Tomorrow is my final day in my temporary locum consultant role as part of the HSE's #COVID19 response in St James's. It's given me pause for thought as I sit, waiting for this baby to fall asleep.... Some of my thoughts, as they are 1/n
It is 15 weeks since I last stepped foot in CHI Crumlin and my role as #AYAoncology fellow. In that time, we've had to postpone our study day but the hard work of people like @PMCC @FionaMcElligott @MaebhHoran @DrOrlaWalsh & others means it will still happen...2/n
In the meantime, we're working on an e-zine and a virtual journal club. (If you're interested, DM me!) I'm glad that I will be returning my focus to advancing the care of our young people with cancer & look forward to the coming progress 3/n
I have been very proud to work alongside colleagues like @rctwilkinson @Catheri56263310 & others over these past weeks. The effort from within the HOPe directorate has been immense & I have no doubt our patients have benefited. Now to get more of us on Twitter....4/n
And on a final note, 15 weeks ago Leo announced that crèches would close & @droon_ immediately took on the role of running a company & full-time childcare provider. Before lockdown or self isolation was a thing, he withdrew from the office, to help me protect my patients 5/n
Lockdown has been wonderful in getting to see the baby learn to walk, learn to say "Oh no" in the poshest accent around & the rest but it has been incredibly difficult running a business and a baby simultaneously. Without him, I would not have been able 6/n
To devote my attention to work & our patients there. So I'll finish this thread by thanking @droon_ for being a wonderful dad & husband & partner.... And raise a glass to the reopening of crèche! 7/7
