Gargamel pretty sure the Smurfs are up to no good.

You know, it's ironic Gohmert should bring this up. Because he's right: this IS how you end up with communism. Or worse.

People like Gohmert put people like Trump in power. Then they set about consolidating that power. The people become increasingly disenfranchised. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The divide grows and grows until the people have had enough.

And THAT is when...

2/
...the charismatic Revolutionary steps in.

That's what happened in Russia. A leader who thought himself above the common man, born of wealth and privilege, who lived in a golden palace while his people went hungry, who demanded the people believe his clumsy lies.

3/
Communism looked good to that population.

Almost any form of government other than what they had would have.

Just as it did in China. In Cuba. Just as it does in ANY place where the divide between the privileged and the poor is a vast chasm that can't be bridged.

4/
The wealthy created the very seeds of their own destruction.

They took more and more and MORE until one day revolution became inevitable and the perfumed elite were dragged from their mansions and put up against the nearest wall.

5/
Communism promised equality. Meritocracy. From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs. I mean, to those beaten down, who have nothing, who are left eating out of garbage cans beneath the great palaces of the wealthy, it sounds pretty good.

6/
Of course, by the time people figured out it was a lie -- and it is ALWAYS a lie -- and that they had simply traded one terrible form of oppression for another worse one, it was far, far too late.

But this is how it happens. Right here.

7/
When a people are denied justice, liberty, equality, truth, when they have nothing left to lose but their lives, sooner or later they will rise up and drag those in power from their palaces and put them against the nearest wall.

8/
Those who worship raw greed and naked power, they're the ones who start the fire. They feed it with hate and fear and they always think they can control it ... right up until that moment when it becomes a conflagration beyond any human control.

9/
It doesn't have to be that way, but there is a moment past which violent revolution becomes inevitable. Through the lens of history, you can see it coming.

We *can* change our fate, but tragically we rarely do.

And mean small men like Louie Gohmert are why.
