Finally had a chance to digest some of the numbers on natural gas in the latest BP Statistical Review. I’m fascinated by how different the experience in different countries. So here is an attempt on some archetypes—with examples (pls don’t take the labels *too* seriously).
Shrinking exporters: Algeria, Bolivia, Canada, Indonesia
Collapsing European producers: Denmark, Finland, Netherlands
Jig-jag (import/export/import): Argentina, Azerbaijan, Egypt, the United States
V-shaped demand: Greece, Portugal, South Korea, Spain
Growing and growing import dependence: China, India, Mexico, Poland
Up, up, up (mostly): Iran, Israel (no demand data), Saudi Arabia, Kuwait
The stable-(ish) exporter: Oman, Peru, Trinidad
Nudging to self-sufficiency: Romania, Ukraine
Dominant exporters: Australia, Norway, Qatar, Russia
