Whether you’re currently studying or you’ve recently graduated, we know the COVID-19 has had an impact on your internships, placements, and job searches. So here’s what we’re doing to make sure you can gain the experience you need and contribute to your community: ⤵️
We’re launching the Canada Student Service Grant. If you’re a student or recent graduate and you volunteer to serve in your community’s COVID-19 response, you could get a one-time payment of between $1,000 and $5,000 with this grant - depending on the number of hours you serve.
We’re supporting 20,000 more job placements in high-demand sectors through the Student Work Placement Program, creating 10,000 new job placements for young people through Canada Summer Jobs, and creating 5,000 new internships for post-secondary students through @MitacsCanada.
We’re also creating more than 3,500 new job placements and internships through the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, and between 5,000 and 10,000 more work-integrated learning opportunities through the Business + Higher Education Roundtable.
At the same time, we’re increasing funding for the Digital Skills for Youth program to help college and university graduates gain professional work experience. And we’re supporting the Computers for Schools Plus program so they can keep helping young people across the country.
