#NoDrillingWhereWereLiving
If you’d like a graphic to help you, here’s one that makes you VERY angry. https://twitter.com/voicesca/status/1276211004272111616
•Excess levels of carcinogens 1, 2, 3, TCP have been found in Kern County’s ground water

•95% of the central valley relies on groundwater as drinking water
•Reasons vary from unregulated pesticide use, unregulated greenhouse gas emissions from animal agriculture and WASTEWATER DISPOSAL FROM FRACKING/DRILLING
You think “oh the climate crisis is very bad but it’s not that bad here at least”?

WRONG. Kern County is the most productive oil county IN THE NATION, let alone CA.

We have been affected in NUMEROUS WAYS. Here are some:
#YesonAB345
Our region’s major sources of economic prosperity have continuously lacked basic regulations leading to worsening effects on our air quality, water quality and crop/food quality
#YesOnAB345
In 2013, 138,480 RESIDENTS IN KERN COUNTY were consuming water from contaminated groundwater resources. The California State Water Resources Control Board found that many CWS’ has been issued maximum contaminant level (MCL) violations.
#YesonAB345
Kern County’s Community Water Systems (CWS) ranked FIRST in the state for having the most MCLs. The high concentration of chemicals found?? Arsenic, uranium and nitrate!!!!
#YesonAB345
Kern County has 95 FUCKING % (516) of the active percolation ponds in the Central Valley. Percolation ponds are open bodies of produced water, water that is used during the extraction of oil, that are left to be disposed of through evapora- tion and percolation through the soil.
While the CVRWQCB claims these percolation pits are safe and nonthreatening to local water sources, a local farmer has documented evidence of these pits contaminating the local groundwater sources that they rely on for their farm.

Living within a half mile of oil and gas drilling leads to preterm birth and lifelong respiratory health impacts. We urge @SenToniAtkins @SenBenHueso to vote #YesOnAB345 to protect mothers, babies, and their families in CA #NoDrillingWhereWereLiving https://bit.ly/3fAM7DP
#AB345 protects Californians, mostly people of color, living within 2500 ft an oil or gas well. Every moment that we do not act, our most overburdened residents are paying with their health. @SenToniAtkins, @HenrySternCA, can we count on your vote? #YesOnAB345
The fossil fuel industry has relied on structural racism since the beginning to tell people that their lives don’t matter. It’s time that @SenateHertzberg @SenToniAtkins VOTE #YESonAB345 to protect Black and brown communities from environmental racism and fossil fuel pollution
We’re here to say #NoDrillingWhereWereLiving. Nearly 2 million Californians live in areas most burdened by environmental pollution. 92% of Californians living in these heavily burdened neighborhoods are people of color. VOTE #YesOnAB345 @BenAllenCA
Call your rep to say #YesonAB345. #CalLeg must protect the health & safety of frontline communities by establishing setbacks between oil sites and homes. The time to act is NOW as communities deal w/ both toxic air pollution & the covid pandemic. http://bit.ly/3dZ94iU
IN CLOSING WE AGAIN ASK YOU TO MAKE SURE REPS VOTE #YESONAB345
