A thread on Christian McCaffrey.

McCaffrey's 2019 season was the 2nd highest PPR season for a running back ever (471.2), second only to LaDainian Tomlinson's 2006 season (481.1). McCaffrey's 2018 season (385.5) is the 16th highest finish for a running back. cont...
His 2018 finish would've also ranked him #1 in 2019, a full 70 points more than the next closest back, Aaron Jones (314.8) who by comparison ranked 95th among the highest PPR FPs by a running back.
McCaffrey's 2017 rookie season of 228.6 FPs was, at the time, the 2nd highest fantasy point total for a #Panthers running back, second only to DeAngelo Williams' 307.6 fantasy points in the 2008 season where he had over 1,500 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns.
McCaffrey now owns 3 of the top 4 fantasy point seasons for a running back in #Panthers history, in his first three years! He has two of the best fantasy seasons by a running back, ever, in his first three years.
A quote from former Panthers running back Fozzy Whittaker on McCaffrey after seeing him in minicamp for the first few days...
In August of 2017 I was on a Rotowire podcast with @jhalpin37 talking about the upcoming fantasy season and the discussion turned to McCaffrey. You can listen to that entire show here https://dcs.megaphone.fm/ADL3723104730.mp3?key=d1dbcddd831699ac2ab828a563c01193 but the McCaffrey talk starts at the 47:00 mark. cont...
Here is an excerpt from that show where I compared him to Marshall Faulk.
Comparing McCaffrey to Marshal Faulk...
Faulk played 12 yrs in the NFL, five with the Colts and seven with the Rams. In 1997 and 1998, Faulk was the 4th ranked fantasy running back in 1998, but it wasn't until the trade to the Rams prior to the 99 season where he exploded.
Faulk arrived in St. Louis with a bang that stretched from 1999 to 2001 where he was the #1 PPR fantasy back each year. McCaffrey needs one more year ranked #1 to match Faulk. Below is a comparison of Faulk's career numbers to McCaffrey's.
McCaffrey joined Faulk (and Roger Craig) as the only running backs to ever reach 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in the same season. McCaffrey did it 20 years after Faulk. Below is a comparison of those two seasons.
Career averages per game
Rush Attempts
McCaffrey 13.0
Faulk 16.1

Rush Yards
McCaffrey 60.8
Faulk 69.8

Rush TDs
McCaffrey 0.5
Faulk 0.6

Receptions
McCaffrey 6.3
Faulk 4.4

Rec Yards
McCaffrey 52.6
Faulk 39.1

Rec TDs
McCaffrey 0.3
Faulk 0.2

Five of those seven seasons after finishing with a #1 ranking, the top running back finished in the top 15 the following year. Four of the seven finished in the top 5 and 3 finished in the top 2. All in the top 30.

If there is one concern about McCaffrey, the Panthers bye week in 2020 is Week 13, which could be the first week of playoffs in some leagues, but don't let that be a deterrent from taking him #1 overall.
