Update 6.25: CDC updates its C19 "Provisional" Deaths by Date of Death report daily & its "Predicted" DoD numbers weekly. The latter was updated this morning & shows that CDC totals (orange bars) are still trending ~5.5K ahead of CTP's tally (blue bars).
The "Hypothetical" line (yellow) approximates what we might see when the counting is completed *if* the CDC's ultimate DoD totals finish 5.5K ahead of CTP's for the period ending June 20.

Note: there's a reporting lag, so no CDC DoD figures have been released yet for this week.
With the latest updates, though, we can extrapolate to an avg deaths figure for last week of 370-400 per day vs. CTP's 598 per day.

Again, this might change with future CDC updates, but it implies that recent actual deaths are still well below daily reported numbers in the US.
Update 6.26: CDC's "Provisional" & "Predicted" Deaths by Date of Death reports (orange bars) vs CTP's tally (blue bars). Pay attention to the difference in the curves made by the actual DoD counts & the report-date counts.
Same June 26 updated CDC data presented cumulatively below. Note that by Apr 25, the CDC's cumulative provisional count is 10.5K greater than what states reported at the time. COV2 was responsible for many thousands more deaths than we could track back in March & April.
