As things stand, Middlesbrough are on the brink of relegation.

That's because they're a bit of a s*** show.

One of the biggest reasons for that is their TERRIBLE record with transfers over the past few seasons.

So how about we go through some of them?!

(THREAD)
February 2016 - Jordan Rhodes

Fee: £10m

Ah, Jordan Rhodes.

What a player he was.

Before joining Boro he scored 156 league goals in 6 and a half seasons.

Since this move, he's got 23 in 5 and a half years.

Why Boro? Why?!

Total: £10m
February 2016 - Julien De Sart

Fee: £2.2m

De Sart only played 3 games in 2 and a half years before leaving on a free transfer.

During that time he also went on loan to Derby where his best moment was this pass.

Total: £12.2m
July 2016 - Viktor Fischer

Fee: £3.8m

Fischer went to Boro as a highly rated youngster from Ajax.

Any potential he had quickly disappeared and he failed to score in one season at the club.

He also put his pet fish in the sink at the club training ground.

Fair.

Total: £16m
July 2016 - Victor Valdes

Fee: £0

I completely forgot this happened.

The ex-Barca 'keeper played 28 games before reportedly falling out with coaching staff, missing 6 weeks with a "rib injury" and then retiring.

The highlight was this moment against Man United.

Total: £16m
July 2016 - Antonio Barragan

Fee: £3m

The most notable thing about Antonio Barragan is that he managed 8 foul throws in one season.

Total: £19m
January 2017 - Rudy Gestede

Fee: £6m

6 goals in 3 and a half years.

Need I say anymore.

Total: £25m
January 2017 - Patrick Bamford

Fee: £6m

Boro were fighting a relegation battle in the Premier League and needed a goalscorer.

So they signed Bamford who had 3 loans spells in the top flight and failed to score.

He got one goal that season.

Improvement.

Total: £31m
January 2017 - Adlene Guedioura

Fee: £4.5m

Guedioura spent a year at Middlesbrough before having his contract terminated.

He played 6 games.

Anyway, his best moment is having a punch-up during a friendly.

Total: £35.5m
July 2017 - Cyrus Christie

Fee: £2.5m

Not much to say on this one other than he left after 6 months.

Turns out Tony Pulis doesn't like attacking full backs.

Who knew?

Total: £38m
July 2017 - Martin Braithwaite

Fee: £10m

Tony Pulis called him ungrateful and disrespectful.

He also said Braithwaite had the biggest wage he’s ever seen in the Championship.

Now he's at Barca showing Boro what they're missing...

Total: £48m
July 2017 - Britt Assombalonga

Fee: £15m

Not necessarily a bad signing but when you consider he's got 6 goals this season, it's not really been a great one.

Total: £63m
July 2017 - Ashley Fletcher

Fee: £6.5m

Another one who's not necessarily been bad.

He's been better this season but since signing he's got 14 goals in 72 games.

Although he did have this miss against Huddersfield...

Yikes.

Total: £69.5m
August 2017 - Marvin Johnson

Fee: £2.5m

In 3 years Marvin Johnson has done next to nothing apart from nearly cripple this Hull player.

Total: £72m
July 2018 - Aden Flint

Fee: £7m

He spent just one year at the club.

To give you an idea of how that's gone, here's how Boro fans reacted to the news that he's leaving.

Total: £79m
January 2019 - George Saville

Fee: £8m

Another one who hasn't really done anything.

His main highlight is shouting "JIMMYYYYY" at Spurs fans earlier this season (because, you know, his second name).

Total: £87m
And there you have it!

87 million pounds of utter s***e.
