In 2017, @anotheracronym began running test-driven online voter registration programs when we realized most of the institutional knowledge + best practices for VR revolved around direct mail + field efforts. We wanted to learn if + how digital ads could expand the electorate🗳🧵:
In 2017, we built the first end-to-end online voter registration funnel in Virginia and established a baseline cost-per-net-registrant for digital advertising-driven registration with the commitment to expand our testing, learning + optimization of these programs in 2018.
In 2018, we ran the largest digital ads program to expand the electorate and partnered with incredible groups like @NextGenAmerica @GiffordsCourage + @Everytown to bring more young people onto the rolls + into the process. 2018 broke records for youth turnout in a midterm cycle💥
In 2019, @TatendaCheryl + I were getting our nails did when we started talking about our OVR ads programs + she had big ideas for how to scale this work + integrate e-commerce tactics to reach eligible non-registrants who need more than a Register-to-Vote call to action to engage
