Unfortunately, we don’t know that “Putin didn’t end up tampering.” The FBI told FL legislators they could NOT assess w/ certainty whether Russia had altered voter data. Most large WI counties refused to conduct a manual recount. The court blocked the PA manual recount. 1/ https://twitter.com/asharangappa_/status/1275108874736017410
The MI recount excluded votes from precincts with broken voting machine security seals & precincts where the # of voters and votes didn’t match. It also was shut down prematurely. As far as the public’s been told, the DHS did not forensically analyze voting equipment. 2/
I discussed the sham 2016 recount and apparent lack of forensic analysis here: 3/ https://www.nybooks.com/daily/2019/12/17/how-new-voting-machines-could-hack-our-democracy/
4/ The FBI told Florida lawmakers that they “‘couldn’t say with certainty [the hackers] did not manipulate [voter registration] data...’” - 5/16/19 https://www.orlandosentinel.com/politics/os-ne-florida-delegation-fbi-briefing-hacking-20190516-sobt43b5jrb2bj2das3zu4z4hy-story.html
5/ @nicoleperlroth told me she thinks the official narrative may have changed re: the voter data, but did not provide a link. And I question whether we can trust the official narrative of this administration when no factual basis for the change in narrative is provided.
6/ Although the US government apparently intercepted no signal intelligence confirming vote-tally manipulation, an absence of evidence isn’t evidence of absence.
7/ If vote tallies were changed, I tend to think domestic actors are the more likely culprits, but that is speculation.
8/ Please let me know if you disagree with this thread. It is very important to pin down what we do and don’t know abkut 2016 and if I’m mistaken I want to know that. Thanks.
