The colonial/racist responses to Colombia's bid for the #WWC2023 is nearly as troubling as the federation's record with its women's program. They have strong grassroots organizations, amazing players (who are politically savvy), and feminist politicians who can support this bid.

For those saying the federation doesn't deserve it, I'm not sure many federations would, would USSF? Who banned protests and slandered women players in a lawsuit. It wasn't an argument used against the Brazilian Federation in 2014 World Cup, despite exploitation of youth players.

I am actually not arguing against the AUS/NZ choice (I am payched to go), but the rhetoric that implies Colombia has some special sexism, dangerous narcos, and unsafe elevation- esp from those who can’t spell Colombia correctly- is trash.
