i really wonder how many times my male classmates have had people assume they’re in nursing school when they say “medical school.” bc it happens for me 90% of the time.
and by no means do i intend to disrespect any other health professions. every role is vital and unique. im just sick of people seeing me, a woman, and automatically assuming i will be anything but a doctor. it’s 2020 y’all, come on.
wow this has clearly attracted a lot of attention because of how universal an experience it is, even in fields other than medicine. & for the record, no, it is not about “status.” it is simply pointing out the biases we witness on a daily basis.
