One short tweet: One MASSIVE caveat

Below the ONS casts HUGE doubt over the reliability of its own Infection Survey as a measure of C-19 levels within the community

The problem with this?

This is THE study UK GOV has cited to justify the lifting of lockdown measures 😼 https://twitter.com/ONS/status/1276142700652310528
Test no.3 of UK GOV's "5 tests for adjusting the lockdown" was as follows:

"Reliable data from SAGE showing that the rate of infection is decreasing to manageable levels across the board"

Sounds reasonable, no?
Well, the ONS Infection Study is now the only one publicly cited by Gov't as providing evidence we have met test #3

And this same study is now showing INCREASING levels of transmission in the community

So much for "across the board"
So, to be generous:

Which OTHER data are SAGE presenting to GOV that CAN be relied upon to demonstrate decreasing transmission?

Can we... you know...see it please???
And, you may well ask, WHY has ONS now issued this caveat?

Well, because GOV has now relaxed lockdown measures, partly on the basis of the ONS study, and ONS wish to distance themselves from these decisions

In short - ONS knows the decision-making is unsound
In summary:

Unless SAGE is in possession of other more reliable data which DO demonstrate transmission is decreasing in the community, then Test #3 has NOT been met, and the lockdown should NOT have been adjusted!
