@LocalTrust @UKSustain Thank you for inviting me. As technology failed me today bringing the conversation here. Our communities have great resiliency & have proven that a million times over these past few months. But how do we transition from crisis? 1/6 #RespondRenew
How do we as people in communities strengthen those bonds, whilst breaking down barriers? How do we shift wealth and power so that everyone can participate fully in our food system? How do we build strong, adaptive localised ecosystems of people, place and economies? 2/6
The next 6-12 months are crucial. We need to be building the new infrastructure for communities to produce and distribute food in a way that is just and includes marginalised. groups. So community hubs, markets & food box schemes that cater to everyone. Moving beyond charity 3/6
Building on solidarity to invest in communities..mutual funds, community shares and other social solidarity finance models. We need to build local governanance that has participation of everyone in our new food ecology. Connecting everyone, valuing everyone's contribution 4/6
This is about connecting our different movements food sovereighty, food justice, poverty, human rights, right to food and tackling the inequalities, the systemic barriers from the bottom up with joined up thinking and action. This is make or break time. If not now then when? 5/6
We create change by doing change. Move from consuming to being a food citizen. Connect with your local community food organisations, food aid organisations, start visioning and putting into practice all that we desire from a fair and just system. This is a call to action!! 6/6
