This reminds me of a small fact I used to tell people over and over: months after his death, Warren's body was identified via dental records. This was 1776. Paul Revere, silver-smith and part-time dentist, was able to identify an artificial tooth he had made for Warren. https://twitter.com/Martyr1776/status/1275976421249294337
Those who know me, know I love portraits, with a particularly strange love of late 18th and early 19th century portraits. Copley's Warren is one of my favourites. Here's the Dr in his early 20s, ready to inoculate you against small-pox as he was wont to do.
Copley's portrait of James Warren, Dr Joseph Warren's Brother, is a miss however. What a difference a couple of years makes. They look as though they are by different people.
Yet his painting of Mercy Warren from about the same time is GREAT. Also she was bad ass. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercy_Otis_Warren
Rembrandt Peele's painting of John Warren (Joseph and James' brother) isn't really to my taste, I'll tell you.
