Y'all realize that even if a vaccine magically appeared *today*, it would still take about a year to fully distribute/inoculate as many as possible, it wouldn't be 100% effective, and there'd *still* be people who refused it, which sort of defeats the whole purpose.
But, *if* a vaccine does come, it's still a year or two away. That's assuming it does come.
A vaccine may never materialize.

So when we talk about delaying re-openings, like Disneyland, what you're really saying is, "Keep it closed for an unknown amount of time, possibly years, until we can full eradicate this thing", which to me sounds incredibly irresponsible.
Like, yes I get it, Disneyland isn't essential.
But for the people who work there... it kinda is.

Not just for Cast Members, but for everyone involved in the micro-economy they've created out in Anaheim. The small businesses and hotels around the resort. It's even kind of essential for the people of Anaheim who rely on their city to collect tax revenues from these operations.
Cities and states can (and will) go broke. It will have severe impacts of their citizens. They will be unable to pay unemployment unless the Federal Government steps in. And even if they do, endlessly printing money has some poor ramifications, too.
Look, some people might say, "Look, the first shutdown was for nothing". But I don't believe that.
We were scrambling. We were running out of hospital beds. Ventilators. PPE. We needed time to get things together and our officials/leaders were sounding the alarms.

The shutdown was designed to slow the spread to a crawl so we could dig ourselves out of the hole of unpreparedness we found ourselves in.
Honestly, there are so many more things I want to say, but I know I'll just be accused of being exaggerative or lacking empathy.
I hate this virus. It's terrible, what's happening to the world and humanity. I am sad for everyone who lost a loved one due to this.

. @leavesonthelawn says it shouldn't be a "binary decision" and I agree, but what I mostly see in the world today when it comes to incredibly politicized discussion of Coronavirus is binary thinking.
Total and complete eradication of Coronavirus is going to take time. Time measured in years. Possibly decades.
If you shut down certain things for years, they will not be there when you're ready to reopen.
