(1) Alex Hooch’s valid accusation is not about KJ but the situation does INVOLVE KJ.
Hooch is a member of KJ’s band. KJ’s Fanbase, which he cultivated as an actor in projects aimed at young adults, comes to their live shows. Alex took advantage of this situation.
(2) Alex knows fans want to meet the band. He knows young women who watch KJ on TV & in movies have a sense of familiarity he can take advantage of. To them he’s not a random 30(!) yr old, he’s KJ’s friend! He uses the band’s status to prey on the fanbase.
(3) KJ is not responsible for Alex’s actions. But he has a responsibility that his fans who come to shows and support him, can do so without the risk of being manipulated by a predator. He has the responsibility to not employ a rapist. To not give him access.
(4) As such, even more than just making a statement. KJ should do the moral thing and kick Alex out of the band. This protects KJ’s fans. And he won’t be working with or associating with a rapist. I understand it may be hard to see a friend as dangerous.
(5) And KJ recently had a false accusation against him too. So maybe he figured the situation was the same. However, now that he has had time to review the situation. He should stop working with Alex. KJ isn’t the law. He doesn’t need to take on Alex’s blame. But he needs to cut-
(6) off Alex’s access to fans (who are often KJ’s own fans) and he needs to stop giving Alex a voice through the music they work on together. Those are the things KJ can do. And I don’t think that action is asking too much of him as Alex’s band mate.
