The whole @intheglebe vs @ShawnMenard1 debacle is ridiculous. The Glebe BIA needs to understand that this is not about punishing drivers by taking away space, this is about making streets safe and accessible for ALL USERS
@intheglebe needs to understand that different shoppers have different needs and arrive in different ways. The bulk of Glebe + Centretown residents arrive by bike or on foot, itâs the most sensible option for them.
Good business practices would be to accommodate for all these modes of transport, which is literally what @ShawnMenard1 has been fighting for. Past attempts at opening streets to people in Ottawa have paid dividends to the local businesses on that stretch of street.
So if this has proven to be successful before, I would expect the city and @intheglebe to at least consider trying a pilot project to see how it works on Bank. Itâs smart business, and itâs about making this city fair for all.
Going beyond the shopping, making Bank more accessible to active users could give the people working in the Glebe an alternative to taking transit or driving, and during COVID-19, organizations need to be willing to be proactive and try something new or theyâll fall behind.
I love the Glebe, I think many of the stores there are amazing. But I also feel like @intheglebe really would rather I not be there. Ouch! @Wellington_West hello letâs make some purchases
