i know that i may not be seen as a satirist in the london "ree-mogg has a funny head" sense of the word, but i would love to drop a few thoughts on the medium.
obviously its super easy to do front camera facing bits right now. and NOT HAVING A GO AT ALL TO THE 3 OR 4 PEOPLE IVE SEEN DO THESE. but stating what you've noticed is not enough. repeating what is happening is not enough.
take the thing you've noticed and run like 3 steps further. but how? well, i know none of you want to hear this and many suspect i am trying to coax more successful comedians to join my slog of a career path like a less famous baba yaga, but.... go surreal.
ignore the campaigns that said "surrealism, not even once". surrealism is fun. you don't have to go full mighty boosh. you just have to USE the material FOR something. if you are not making it big and weird enough and people think its real, youre not satirising, youre spreading.
not to at all say that this kind of writing can't be subtle. but a good starting point is "this is a weird thing. im going to show that its weird." and go as far as you can with, every inch. RESIST going all keir starmer common sense normal hat. its comedy, not a debate. ;)
another thing is for some reason some of you aren't making yourself the butt of the joke? you look good, theres not enough in the material that makes me want to laugh at YOU. the themes are the protag acting on the world, which is the wrong way round.
if you are satirising the upper class, why are you holding back? you should be aiming to make either them or, for most of you, "us", literally lose all sense of themselves. i want a duke to be stumbling about knocking ornate vases over after watching your videos.
if youre posh and toothless, youre probably not going to be able to get me what i want. i want less "i disagree old chum" and more "fuck these people" in satire.
anyway, just thinking out loud, dont mind me!
