THREAD ALERT!! Your dream might end up being a nightmare 🚨

Fasten your seatbelts, it’s time to wake up and realize that our dream of immigration isn't as easy as we all want to believe.

Each person has his own circumstances, but most of us are affected by the following 👇
PASSPORT! The Lebanese pass is ranked as the 79th in terms of travel freedom according to Henley Passport Index.

- We require a visa to access 161 countries while 28 countries request a visa on arrival.

- We can access 9 countries without visa.

We are ranked among the worst.
"YES I GOT MY VISA AND UNIVERSITY ACCEPTANCE!" Good for you, how are you going to cover your university tuition? Your rent? Your living expenses?

Do you think your bank will cover them with your Lollars? Or are you going to deplete the few dollars saved at home?
VALUE OF MONEY!

Your money is most probably either in Lira or Lollar thus you can’t transfer nor withdraw USD. In other words you have to head to the sorraf and receive a 55-78% LOSS.

A 600 EUR rent per month = 4,746,000 LBP.

Minimum living expenses: 500$ = 3,500,000 LBP.
Just look at the USD/LBP exchange rate curve, can you imagine it in the future with NO REFORMS?

How are you or your parents going to cover your future expenses abroad when they lost around 80% of their funds? With a huge risk of further devaluation.
“My parents’ have a decent job”, that’s what I thought.

My mom was a teacher at one of the most prestigious schools in Lebanon, after 25 years of experience; she & 30 other teachers simply lost their job and ended up with a worthless compensation in Lira.
It just doesn’t end there; the rate is just half the issue. The foreign currency availability is a bigger issue.

Now assume you can afford 20,000$, euros or British pounds; it’s quasi-impossible to find that amount in the market.
But I am not intending to study abroad; I am looking for a job abroad to receive العملة الصعبة

Do you know that the unemployment rate is exponentially increasing abroad?

Almost 43 million people have reportedly filed for unemployment in the US in the last two months.
Unemployment rates worldwide:

USA: 13.30%

Canada: 13.70%

Spain: 14.41%

France: 7.80%

Btw the US suspended the entry of immigrants that “pose a threat to the current US labor market” post- COVID.
"Forget Europe and the US, I wanna make money in the gulf."

Debt levels, unemployment and budget deficits are spiking in the gulf following the corona virus-led recession; piling pain on economies already hit by conflicts and an oil price slump.
The IMF projected the MENA economy to contract by 3.3% in 2020, the biggest slump in 4 decades.

IMF also stated that the combined shocks of the virus and low oil prices will shave off $323 billion; that’s 12% of the Arab world’s economy.
Furthermore, Anti-immigrant policies that used to be regarded as extreme have been normalized, and dehumanizing immigrants has become widespread in mainstream media.

Some are facing threats, intimidation, manipulation regarding citizenship & residency, and/or economic abuse.
Now if you manage to travel without your family, do you want them to live in these circumstances?

Few months ago, medical practitioners were warning that hospitals may not be able to provide patients with life-saving surgery &urgent medical care because of the financial crisis.
Do you want to travel, live far away from your families to transfer fund, to end-up feeding the corrupt like expats already did?

Some were “lucky to leave” but they struggled, they lost their funds and time away from their families.

It’s not as easy as you think.
I am not here to destroy your hopes; I really wish you & your families all the best in Lebanon or abroad.

But why travel and buy $ at 7,000 while we can easily drop it with the right reforms.

There will be no financial support if we stay silent & continue to kick the can.
We need to put pressure to move towards real reforms. We can restore economic stability, rebuild our USD reserves which will stabilize the lira.

If we apply the IMF reforms, we will receive funds to pay for imports. We have the capabilities to re-launch the economy from scratch.
Many are tired of the current situation. Many can’t mentally handle it anymore so they’re focusing on الهجرة. I do not blame them.

But given the worldwide situation, I believe demanding a change & reforms is a more feasible solution for us, for our families & for Lebanon.
Each one of us has his own complications but what I can assure you is that we’re all losing on a daily basis. The more we wait, the more we lose.

Silence, like a cancer, grows.
