I’m a doctor from Pakistan working in Ireland for 4 years. I’m among many other non-eu nationals who are working at frontline along with all the other dedicated Irish and EU doctors and healthcare workers.
I was happy to hear the news that @RCPI_news has increased 90 training
Seats for the doctors coming back from Australia and USA but I was very angry at the same time because we, non-EU Nationals, feel that nobody care about us. We are working in the same system doing the same jobs as other doctors but still we have almost no training opportunities
We have no future in Ireland. We are being bullied at work and don’t know whom to complain because RCPI or HSE never listen to us. @IMO_IRL is the only hope for doctors but they’re also very busy(can’t blame them though because doctors have many issues which need to be addressed)
I have membership but can’t apply for HST but at the same time I’m being offered ST3/4 in UK on basis of my experience in Ireland 🤷🏻‍♂️
I would be insane to not go for that opportunity and I won’t the be only doctor doing this. I know at least 40 doctors who left for training in UK
last year and I know at least 50 more doctors who will leave the country for the same reason. Who will be the loser in this ? Irish health system who’s letting their own trained doctor to go. But who cares because we are non-EU doctors who can be easily replaced.
My Consutants have tried a lot for me but the health system is too old fashioned and not ready for any change.
We should probably leave rather sooner than later
I will be working with a black ribbon onwards in protest for no training opportunities for us till I leave this
