Re. working hours 'consultation' (a thread). We learnt on Monday that views were being sought on extending court opening hours, and responses were needed by Thursday (today). (1/6)
We provided a detailed response to a previous consultation ( https://resolution.org.uk/response-to-hm-courts-and-tribunal-service-on-the-flexible-operating-hours-prospectus/) and have highlighted that to the solicitor rep on the working party. (2/6)
Our previous and current chair (as of our AGM yest - congrats again Juliet!) have been in regular contact with the solicitor rep, who has been left in no doubt as to the strength of feeling at Resolution, both on the proposals and the consultation process. (3/6)
We have seen no detailed proposals, so don't yet know what exactly is being suggested, and have only been asked for general views. It's difficult therefore to frame any response in terms other than "are you happy to work longer?" (4/6)
Rather than ask our members to complete another survey (sorry, we know there's a lot at the moment...), we felt the views expressed in the previous response still stood - and are accentuated by the circumstances many of our members now find themselves in. (5/6)
We have provided this to the working party, making these points clear, and hope to have further engagement (and with slightly longer timescales) with them and HMCTS before any changes to court operating hours are put into place. (6/6)
