uhhh...colonization will never be a good thing, the blood of filipinos were shed in the streets of their own country
what kind of savior complex (colonizer edition) is this, filipinos already had an identity before our colonizers came. we never needed colonizers to "save us"

everything "we have right now" isn't even our identity anymore, if you're talking about collective trauma due to colonization disguised as "resilience" then i dont think its a good thing to be celebrated. colonizers tortured our ancestors
look up fort santiago chambers

miguel lopez de legazpi- the spanish governor isko is commemorating, he had fort santiago built for manila. so many people died there and were tortured, jose rizal was also imprisoned there before his execution
so yeah kinda fucked up to be celebrating our colonizers

also just so you know colorism never existed in the philippines it only existed when our colonizers came and made us believe in a certain standard of beauty. colorism is still pretty rampant here in the philippines
they named aetas "negritos" and a province "negros occidental"

the fact that people- FILIPINOS, are agreeing with this point is so fucked up
our ancestors were raped and tortured in their lands by colonizer after colonizer. indigenous people forced to convert to christianity, and they said it themselves the colonizers destroyed our cultures
