A thing about writing is you stare at a screen for ages but once you know how to start you’re ten paragraphs in before you take a second to breathe
Me: how do I even explain losing an eye
Also me, with prompting from friends: So I saw a snuff film on the internet and I jumped in my car and went to where it was filmed

like I didn’t know how to articulate the horror and someone asked why even show up and it’s because snuff films are normal now on social media which is visceral and prickly and bad
and the people creating the snuff films took my eye
and the people creating the snuff films took my eye
How do I explain it? well, they were a few centimeters from creating a whole other film
Because we’ve made it normal that folk just get killed or squeezed on camera and if it’s Black people we push that out because “awareness” but it’s all snuff films

Funny thing, I don’t watch horror cause I’ve seen enough viscera in my real life that I don’t need to see it recreated
And now I’m up here trying to describe that difference; let me tell you what it is to see a man die on screen and then get maimed

Anyone asks me how did I lose an eye I’m gonna open with “I saw a snuff film that people shared in the name of racial tolerance and I wondered how many people would they kill because said people were mad about the snuff film"
And I will be real fucking clear that we have normalized snuff films of Black people because we’re all progressive and outraged and shit
