let's talk about arophobia and aro erasure (a thread)

due to the allonormative/amatonormative society, a society that expects everyone to get married and have kids. a society that revolves around romance, to the point where it's expected for everyone to fall in love.

and because of this society, you see a lot of arophobia/aro erasure everywhere, even within the lgbtqia+ community, and even within the aspec community.

because of this society, so many aros feel broken and often force themselves into unhealthy relationships, because we feel like we HAVE to have it. and society makes it seem like there is something wrong with us if we don't experience romantic attraction and/or-

not be interested in romantic relationships.

some examples of aro erasure:

-everyone falls in love
-falling in love makes us human
-romance is the greatest thing anyone can experience

lumping aros in under ace is aro-erasure
saying aromanticism is a subset of asexuality is aro-erasure.

aromanticism is a romantic orientation, not under the asexuality umbrella. it is it's own spectrum and has it's own flag.

"aros are heartless, they don't feel any love."

wrong, just because aros don't feel romantic attraction, doesn't mean we don't feel any love. romantic love isn't the only form of love.
