i'm going to word this best as i can - white women - stand up & do better, we've been complacent for too long & feed the egos and evils of white men - almost every relationship i've had w a white man has ended because I wasn't quiet about my opinions like they were used to
we HAVE to use our votes for other women of color - we feel the effects of the patriarchy every day by not being able to go on a walk at the same time men are, being afraid to go places alone, etc. so how can you be so blind & ignorant about racism? HAVE empathy & respect
i'm realizing this means I need to do a lot more research too & learning. I am currently waiting on a few books to come in, but the first thing I think is standing up to the white men in your life and checking their opinions and attitudes
& it means listening to black people & minorities about their experiences & amplifying it. we suffer from a mysogynistic society everyday & you feel it, how can you not see that there's an even bigger systemic oppressive force in place? racism is so evidently there & if you want
to ignore it you're choosing the side of the oppressor, you're choosing to let more people suffer because you can. just remember next time you're on a date with a white man and he says "politics aren't that important to me" he means he doesn't want you to talk about it because
your opinion does not matter to him - he doesn't need you to have a brain or opinions. he doesn't want to hear you explain and empathize for black women or any other minorities. he's looking for complacency. he's looking for a white woman who "knows her place"
& we CANNOT keep feeding that idea. we CANNOT keep being complacent. use your vote, use your voice, do your research & respect yourself enough to have your opinions. respect yourself enough to love other women & be passionate about uplifting their voices
MOST IMPORTANTLY ----- white women this isn't your good deed of the year, this isn't going on a mission trip or using this for your resume. this is A CALL TO A LIFESTYLE CHANGE.
