BREAKING: The number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations has doubled in less than two weeks in Texas. State is reporting new record high of 4,389 people in hospitals for the virus. That is more than double the amount we had in the hospital on June 12.
The state is still reporting almost 13K available hospital beds statewide and about 5,800 ventilators. We still have 1,320 ICU beds statewide, but that number bears watching. On Friday that state reported having 1,443 ICU beds available.
New Texas COVID-19 numbers
1,630,258 people tested (up 32,968 from yesterday)
125,921 positive cases (that is up 5,551 from yesterday)
2,249 deaths (up 29 deaths from yesterday)
4,389 hospitalizations (up 297 from yesterday)
Over the last 7 days we are averaging:
37,231 tests per day
4,227 positive cases per day
27 deaths per day
3,563 in the hospital on average

Previous 7 days:
29,793 tests per day
2,368 positive cases per day
25 deaths per day
2,334 in the hospital on average
So in summary, that is a record number of positive COVID-19 cases in one day in Texas. Also new record for current hospitalizations and our average deaths per day are climbing.
On TV in Wichita Falls earlier today, Gov. @GregAbbott_TX warned about the current spreading of COVID-19.

"It doesn't matter which region of the state of Texas you're in, people need to recognize that this is spreading."
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott: "...the safest place for you to be right now while this is spreading will be at home."
