the state of transmasc discourse on here really is like

someone: X is harmful to trans women
trans guy: that is true and it also affects us in a way that is less direct but just as nasty
someone: stop minimizing trans women's issues and making them about you!!!
trans guy: do u think you could talk about the ftm perspective more
high profile trans woman: i should but i don't want to talk over trans men
trans guy: i'm trying to speak for myself but nobody is listening, they're listening to you
her fans: shes a WOMAN stop making it abt YOU
trans guy: so transmascs and butch women have a long and intertwined history and a lot of common experiences
cis lesbian: no this is a no men space, you can't come in, traitor
trans woman: btw buddy please don't tell cis people you ID with your female past it works against us!
It's wild to go from being a teenage girl and being talked over constantly, having a half-decade long crisis about whether transitioning is a betrayal of feminism in favor of unearned privilege, and then becoming a young man and still being talked over "because" youre "privileged
I feel sometimes that the LGBT community wants trans men and transmascs to talk about our issues in our own little bubble and never talk about our intersections with other parts of the community because we "invalidate" them. We don't fit the narrative.
Can we stop silencing trans men EVERY time they talk about ANYTHING that effects them directly???? And then get mad at ME for wanting our issues to matter to anyone who isn't us???
I've been seeing some new-ish terms floating around which I guess are supposed to be replacements for the aging "AMAB/AFAB": TMC or "transmisogyny confined" and TME for "transmisogyny exempt". I hate this and I think it's absolutely the wrong way to think about trans difference.
confined/exempt is too much of a binary. I and MANY other transmascs, even the binary and masculine ones, get mistaken for pre-transition trans women when we say we're trans. "F*mboy" originally slurred transfems but gets used for transmascs more as we gain visibility.
Is a white-passing POC "racism exempt"??? No, it just means you get in trouble when they "find out" instead of the moment they see you.
I don't like "transmisogyny confined" for trans women either. It looks like defining an identity by the eternal struggle and suffering associated with it. You know, like TERFS do for cis womanhood.
While I do and always will acknowledge that trans women and transfems are in a position of greater marginalization than I am, particularly because I am white, this does not make trans masc a privileged "transmisogyny exempt" class. Transmisogynistic trans men do not negate this.
Why are you telling trans guys they are lying or attention seeking when they are trying to tell you they know your pain? Are you worried about misrepresenting us because you can't be bothered to even try to represent us accurately? Is it easier for you to pretend I'm not here?
