Want to know how erased Natives are? Here's a not-so-fun little litmus test.

Click on that GIF button. Type in Native American or American Indian.

Almost EVERY. SINGLE. GIF. is a caricature of our people. Every single one.

Do you understand now? Do you get it?
This one is acidic, and it burns. It burns us. LET US TELL OUR OWN STORIES. LET US BE OUR OWN HEROES. LET US DREAM. This is on you. This is on YOU giving us a chance. Let us live.
This one is the "Crying Indian." NEWSFLASH: He's not Native American. At all. This actor was hired to Red Face us.
Pocahontas. Need I say more. No. (But probably, cause most of all don't know she was a child that was raped and sold and I just can't with you white people romanticizing us, I can't)
... I mean...
Thanks.
How most of you still see us.
And I REFUSE to repost any gif of white people in headdresses cause that should never be shared, ever.
A nice recent one. 'Cause, you know. Will Ferrell just did Red Face last Thanksgiving on @nbcsnl. Ya'll must be real proud of that one! (Can we get an apology? Can you all stop? Please???)
And ALL of our good gifs are of us talking about trauma and erasure. We have nothing that lifts us up. Nothing that makes us real to you in mainstream media. No characters that represent us. No stories. No comedy. Nothing.
I loved this movie. Until this shit. I understand it was commentary. But this is top 50 gifs of us. Because... this is where we exist in TV/Film. Here. This becomes us.
I call this: white people thinking this is what Native Pride is Gif.
And at this point, I'll continue this chain another day, because I've hit my cap on the normal daily re-traumatiziation our people all have to go through.

All I want is some reacts with our people. A place for us to be real. Why is this how you see us? Why?
(And to be clear, that question is rhetorical because I know the reason why. I'm asking you to ask yourself that.)
