Let’s be clear: full tuition at Oxbridge, eg, is around £36k per year. Living expenses come on top.
It makes going to a UK college prohibitively expensive for all bit rich kids. The UK will lose masses of European middle or lower class kids - many of the best and brightest.

To think that they would shoulder an extra £75k in debt to go to the UK, all else being equal, is not serious. The UK is losing a lot of the European talent pool that have contributed so much to academia, and then to science, business and arts in the UK.

Which leaves rich European kids. They will, of course, still be able to afford UK colleges. They might more easily think about alternatives, given That the price will now be similar to great US, Canadian or Asian schools. But many will still come to the UK.

So this hare-brained Brexiteer policy of charging European students the highest rates will result in
i) many of the best and brightest mot being able to come to the UK any more, &
ii) adverse social selection where pretty much all European students in the UK will be rich.

Much less diversity & talent for one of the UK’s strongest asset: its academic institutions. For what? So that Brexit gets done? Fully done? No reasonable exceptions done?
