Thread: Why Leyton is the best OTH ship, why they were always meant to be from the start, and why other ships (Brucas and Jeyton) just simply don't compare.
Focusing on the first 3 seasons since that's where they get most of their hate.

Pilot: Complete endgame energy from the very beginning. Only OTH ship destined from the very start and people can't stand it.
If you thought it was gonna end up any other way, you can only blame yourself for the delusion (and lack of taste)

1x02: Already sharing insecurities, intimate details, veiled flirting. Endgame energy.
"Your art matters. It's what got me here."
"Your art matters. It's what got me here."
1x03: He barely knows her, but Lucas sends Peyton's designs to Thud magazine, knowing its hard for Peyton to put herself out there. 3 episodes in and the soulmate connection is obvious.
1x05: Peyton is damn near suicidal running red lights, and this man Lucas jumps into the car just to be with her. I'm dead serious, why would you think he'd end up with anyone else? He goes out of his way for her constantly.
1x07: Ships like Leyton don't happen easily. It takes time and patience. Lucas knew what he wanted, Peyton wanted him too, but didn't know how far to go with it. And ~that's~ where the tension starts.
1x08: No OTH ship had as much tension and angst as these two. Makes the eventual payoff so satisfying.
1x09: Peyton is regretting not saying how she really felt. She was scared. She finally opens her heart to Lucas, but her best friend didn't seem to care how she feels

1x10: Lucas clearly knows he jumped the gun and made a bad choice with Brooke. But Peyton suppressed her feelings for him. This ship was a victim of terrible timing and circumstance

Big reason why Brucas is hot garbage: Lucas only gets with Brooke when Peyton isn't available to him. He thought her walking away in 1x07 was rejecting a relationship, so (like a hoe tbh) he just tries to rebound with Brooke.
Trash ass ship.
Trash ass ship.
1x11: Brooke has a hard time connecting with Lucas, so she asks Peyton for help (Brooke has always subconsciously known). Peyton gives her songs for him to listen to.
But Lucas immediately knows that Peyton chose them. IMAGINE thinking anyone else was endgame.
But Lucas immediately knows that Peyton chose them. IMAGINE thinking anyone else was endgame.
1x13: How Brucas stans even exist is beyond me. Imagine your favorite ship has the guy cheating with her best friend saying shit like "She's great. But she's not you."
So embarassing
So embarassing

Brooke has caught them. Peyton doesn't wanna continue the affair out of guilt.
Their circumstance gets in the way, their timing is terrible, but their story is deep. They find a way.

In between all this, you have Brooke lying to Lucas about a pregnancy while telling him she felt inferior to him in their relationship. So romantic

1x21:
Lucas only wants Peyton's forgiveness for the Nicki incident, not Brooke's.
He leaves his letter at Peyton's door, not Brooke's

Season 2 is Leyton's worst season. After their incredible Season 1, they barely interact. Instead they force Brucas because Chad and Sophia are dating, and they force Jeyton to get Peyton out of the way. Two snoozefest ships.
Brucas is extremely forced especially with how bad they were in S1
Peyton is a wannabe 16 yo stepmom w/no ambition with Jake and becomes the worst version of her character, looking to Jake to fill the void of a family.
But the Leyton crumbs we get esp towards the end, are great

2x10: Lucas just has a fight with Peyton, is getting along with Brooke, Lucas tells Nathan he feels a girl is slipping away. We're supposed to think it's Peyton.....but it's Brooke??? They're so forced, and for no reason.
No wonder Season 2's ratings fell after 2x10
No wonder Season 2's ratings fell after 2x10

Jake being a nice guy =/= Jeyton is a good ship. No development, all they do is talk about Jenny, and only appear in like 8 episodes together.
People who like Jeyton have Brucas as their #1 ship, it's only bc they want Peyton out the way for their snoozefest ship.

2x21/23:
Brooke finds out that Lucas kept a box full of Peyton's stuff with him. Lucas tells her it's a reminder of how badly he screwed things up.
Worst excuse ever

2x21:
A common theme with Brucas that needs to be highlighted. Peyton is ALWAYS an underlying issue for both of them.
Between him keeping a box of Peyton's stuff to even a simr hug like this. Brooke always knew.

Lucas was still hurt that Peyton said he wasn't a good friend. He values her opinion of him more than anyone else's.
Also just a sidenote: Jeyton doesn't even happen in S2 if Lucas doesn't call him. Lucas' love for Peyton is the reason Jeyton stans even exist

And we are about to be redeemed for the distance between Leyton now.
"Looks like it's just you and me for the summer" we're about to be blessed in S3 and this is the hint. Foreshadowing.

Let me address the lie that Brucas fans have spread over the years -- that Chad cheating on Sophia is the only reason Leyton was endgame.
CHAD AND SOPHIA HAD SPLIT BEFORE SHOOTING OF S3 HAD STARTED AND THEY STILL DATED THAT SEASON. LEYTON WAS LITERALLY SET UP FROM THE PILOT.
CHAD AND SOPHIA HAD SPLIT BEFORE SHOOTING OF S3 HAD STARTED AND THEY STILL DATED THAT SEASON. LEYTON WAS LITERALLY SET UP FROM THE PILOT.
Season 3 is a Leyton season, not a Brucas one. Even though Brucas are dating. Leyton is being built up from 3x01 itself and this season shows why Brucas are terrible for each other and Leyton were always endgame. Leyton did not come out of nowhere, it was inevitable and obvious.
Lucas is holding a major secret about the night of the fire. And the only person he tells is Peyton. No one else, until Dan forces him to.
Brooke only does the non-exclusive dating crap with Lucas bc she doesnt trust him and wants to know if he really loves her. Despite all that and leading him on, she sleeps with Chris Keller.
Why would anyone ship this? What is worth shipping?
Why would anyone ship this? What is worth shipping?
3x09 - Peyton's subconscious always felt that she should be with Lucas. She always had feeling for him, but had to suppress them at the end of S1 for Brooke.
3x11:
Lucas doesn't submit Brooke's designs to Rogue Vogue, but he did it for Peyton when he barely even knew her.
"I should know you well enough to do something like that."
That's the point, Lucas.

3x13:
Lucas re-uses the same line he wrote in a letter to Peyton he never sent. Guess that's what you have to do with your 2nd choice

3x13:
This is leading up to Brucas most "memorable" moment and the entire time leading up to it, they're fighting about Peyton.
Their angst revolves around lack of communication, trust, and Peyton.
Lucas and Peyton as a couple never talked about Brooke. They never had to.

3x13:
In case it isn't obvious, she's talking about Lucas. She never let's Jake go, she let Lucas go. And she's been regretting it.

I forgot to mention -- 3x10:
Lucas gets back together with Brooke, and literally within a few hours he goes on a road trip with Peyton to see Ellie. He always goes out of his way for her.
He doesn't even think to tell Brooke until Peyton reminds him
it's so obvious.

I'm literally not joking when I say that Felix was a better boyfriend to Brooke.
3x14:
Peyton looks for reassurance from Lucas, and Lucas is the only one who consoles Peyton after Ellie's death. He's always looking out for her.

3x16:
I mean, you already know. Peyton's suppressed feelings for Lucas and Lucas' penchant for always trying to help her come to a climax here. They foreshadowed it like crazy and it's finally happening.

3x17:
Lucas just lost someone who's basically a dad to him in a school shooting. So what does Brooke do?
Throw a party in the same hallways Keith died in for a grieving Lucas! (because that's normal!)
I know I keep asking but

3x17:
This might be my favorite Leyton scene ever.
Lucas is distraught and angry at the world for what happened to Keith. And the only person he can laugh and joke around with is Peyton.
This scene exemplifies their relationship so well to me.

While Lucas is still dating Brooke, Peyton tries to hide with Jake...and to basically fill the void of a family with her mother being gone.

Jake sees through it. Peyton only proposes to him after Jenny called her mama. And she's trying to run away from how she feels about Lucas. It's obvious.

3x22:
Brooke asks Lucas to not speak to Peyton. So naturally, he flirts with her.

3x22:
People think Brucas didn't last bc of Peyton, and that's partially true. But "why won't you ever just let me all the way in" has nothing to do with Peyton. Brucas was a petty, superficial, meaningless relationship only standing on cutesy moments and...aesthetic? Idek.

Ending thread here, y'all know how great 4, 5 (yes), and 6 are to Leyton. But Leyton was clearly meant to be from the start.
Have the longing, slow burn (not getting married at 16), angst, friendship, romance, fulfillment, journey, everything. No one can compare.
End.
