#30DaysofThreads - Day 6
So I only build businesses that fit this paradigm:
-From an idea to the first PAYING customer in 60 days!-
It’s not like I’m going to live forever.
Today we'll chat about the first things I do when it’s GO TIME! A thread!

So in day 1 through 5 we knocked out the mindset challenges.
"Get yo mind right" has to happen first!
Starting today we’re going to get to the execution phase of this ride. Phase 2 if you will.
Let’s get straight to it.

Let’s get straight to it.
So remember, this is no one-size-fits-all thing.
I’m sharing what works for me.
If you have other things that work for you, do those.
DO WHAT WORKS, will forever be my mantra!!! :-)

So if you have the resources, capital, and risk tolerance to spend two years building a product before your first customer like Basecamp just did then go for it.
(Excellent product btw, loving Hey)
(Excellent product btw, loving Hey)
But for me (and many of you), with MUCH lower resources and the risk tolerance to match, I want to have my first customer in 30 to 60 days to make sure I’m not building into a black hole.
Don't know how people do it lol

So time is limited. Check.
Resources are limited. Check.
I have no choice but to get to work in a really driven and targeted way.

I have no choice but to get to work in a really driven and targeted way.
So to get straight to it, first thing on my list is to put up a homepage.
Not a coming soon page, not a launchrock page, but a landing page that is actually very close to the final product of what the landing page will look like.
SO NEVER THIS!!!

But something like this instead.
A depiction of what your site will actually look like, even if simplified but that tells your brand story and give the vibe of where you're heading...
You saw me do it with https://getjasmin.com/

So once I get that homepage up, and actually share it out to the world (no I’m not building in stealth), it makes everything real even if the product isn’t done as yet.
And it adds a level of legitimacy that no Coming Soon Launch page could ever have.

An actual designed homepage brings credibility.
And I can leverage that credibility to then find suppliers, potential customers, partners, developers, service providers, etc.
And I can leverage that credibility to then find suppliers, potential customers, partners, developers, service providers, etc.
SO QUICK EXAMPLE.
Let’s say I wanted to start an organic food delivery service.
I wouldn’t try to find suppliers or any of that first without having any online presence.
This is how it would go

Instead, I would head to Themeforest or something and buy some Organic Food theme like this and get it installed and content added to it.
Simple $59 theme. (18 second video)

So that when it comes time to talk to suppliers it's an easier process because we look super official.
So with the site up, I can then send an email like this:
So with the site up, I can then send an email like this:
"Hi, I’m Rohan, founder of Organic Meals.
Our website <insert link>
We've tried your sirloin steak and let me just say... amazeballs!
What are your best rates for sirloin if we were to start with a small order of 20 pieces, with a view to building a long-term relationship?"

That's it, no begging.
No "I'm a new business and I'm just wondering..."
Nah son. We are who we want to be TODAY!

Once we have that dope homepage design we're then able to navigate and negotiate like we deserve a seat at the table.
Because...well, we do deserve a seat at the table!!!
Because...well, we do deserve a seat at the table!!!
This is exactly what we did with getjasmin.
We created a homepage and then reached out to content creators telling them why they should list with us and started to build up a waiting list even before the platform is complete.
Same with http://dreamdesk.io

And I've done this to the point where I was literally in my bedroom negotiating with multi-million dollar companies in Europe based on this approach.
No one would have taken us seriously if all we had was a coming soon LaunchRocket page or something like that.

As usual, none of what any one person does will work for everyone else.
Just sharing what we do to get our wins.
Straight to the dope homepage for us, it helps with suppliers, employees, press, developer sign-on, everything we need to get traction.

Plus it keeps move moving forward.
This way I can be taking actionable steps every day.
Action, Action Action.
Everything else is for people that are going to live forever.

So on the 30-60 day cross country drive that this is (If I may use a driving analogy), we get in the car and are half way across the country before most people even grab their keys...
So that's about it peeps, take away here is I commit to a landing page when I've decided to go.
AND give myself a 2 month timeline for the first customer.
Nope, I'm not building a business for a year without getting paid!!!

About to hit the treadmill to get off this quarantine 10! :-)
