It can be harder to speak decisively about the systems we've benefitted from, especially when they've hurt people we care about. I know I've benefitted. I'm sorry.

Believe survivors. Stand with them. Stand against abusers. None of this industry is worth the pain we've done.
Like we need to be anti-racist, we need to be anti-sexist. We (primarily men) need to be willing to self-evaluate, to stand up for accountability. To be in and create spaces that might be uncomfortable in order to advocate for women and others. To be held accountable.
These stories have been gut-wrenching, heartbreaking. The courage to tell them is amazing, and we can't let this be another situation where the marginalized bleed themselves only to be paid lip service and short-term "solutions."
I'm taking today off streaming for #twitchBlackout / #BlackoutWednesday to read and listen, and self-evaluate. There are streamers who are using this as a chance to speak up about these issues of harassment and abuse. If you spend time on Twitch today, please support them.
We have to be better, not just for a day, or for a few weeks. Systemic reforms are daily work that we have to do for years to come. Men in particular with power, with influence, with platform: we're on the hook. We owe that work and so much more.
