Lawmakers should start looking into municipalizing UberLyft. If the ballot measure fails, they're looking at wage claims and labor costs that'll eclipse market cap. Last ditch effort to stay afloat will likely be to fuck over drivers and fire them, doesn't need to happen though. https://twitter.com/ssmith_calabor/status/1275853484391366657
The unit economics of ride-hailing don't make sense at the scale of UberLyft. Private mobility services are incompatible with public transit. Clearly, UberLyft over-hired but the drivers don't need to pay for being preyed upon.
Take over the ride-hailing companies, seize their data, and restructure them to operate as part of a public transit system locally or even regionally.
The alternative is let Uber (maybe Lyft) escape into government contracts and financial services, let millions lose their jobs or get trapped in even more exploitative circumstances, and refuse to address the harm done by these companies to drivers and communities.
