What you are seeing here pdx is a pattern in liberal nonprofit protests I have seen this for years. I've seen non profits pay a few Native people a stipend 2k-5k a month to lead their events. White nonprofits controlled them.

They will say they were already activists and they are just supporting them which is true for some (I support that ) BUT some were not activists at all they were gatekeepers. I only learned it when I started dating a person getting a monthly stipend.

The problem is the nonprofit groups would always try to over power the grassroots ppl eating crumbs.
Like at Camp Cloud for example. The money for the other camp would get funneled through foundations so you couldn't really tell who was paying them and they could legally say

That is not our org. Sound familiar? They would tell protesters to stay away from our camp &go to theirs bc we were violent. They labeled us violent just for de- arresting & physically defending ourselves from physical attacks from right wingers. It broke my heart to learn this

Point is "Indigenous led" "Black led" does not always mean what you think bc when White ppl run the money it gives them the power to persuade the ppl getting the stipend. Keep is peaceful or no food for you!
Its difficult issue because

these nonprofits also help grassroots Indigenous activists who stay hard core independent. However they still gatekeep the f out of what they spend the money on.

It broke my heart to learn this mostly bc nonprofits controlled the events and they ALWAYS coordinated it with cops
