As we talk about the importance of not setting unrealistic expectations in playing TTRPGs, which is a good conversation, let’s remember NOT to shame streams or imply that someone is worse off for watching them. Streams have made DND and other games more accessible than ever.
I got into DND after *years* of being kept out of the community by watching streams, listening to podcasts, then picking up the DM mantle from what I’d learned. I had to learn on my own, and I wouldn’t have been able to without streams.
We shouldn’t expect our players to “act” or have amazing voices all the time, or want the same things we see in streams. But it’s foolish to think the very thing that has brought so many new players to the games is what’s “ruined” ttrpgs. Streams resurrected it.
