Our world has been up-ended by #COVID19, and in cities around the globe, people are rethinking how they get around and cities are reworking their transportation policies and infrastructure.

Great discussions have taken place and resources created, such as:

@DrDesThePlanner's #unurbanist assembly

@NACTO's pandemic planning response recommendations: https://nacto.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/NACTO_Streets-for-Pandemic-Response-and-Recovery_2020-05-21.pdf

and many others - more than I can list here.

We at @limebike wanted to add to the ongoing conversation with some research of our own.

In collaboration with @doc_monte of @OSFHealthCare, one of the first things we did was dig into the emerging scientific literature around #COVID19 transmission risk.

3/8
The evidence from @CDCgov-published research and other sources shows that #COVID19 is spread primarily indoors via airborne transmission. We conclude that as an open-air, socially-distanced mode, shared micromobility is a safe way to get around in the current environment.

We also wanted to understand what everyday people were thinking about their travel right now and in the future, so we surveyed the general public in 5 global metros:

Berlin
London
New York City
Seattle
Seoul

6/8
We found:

📈 In Seoul & Berlin (where shared scooters are available & mobility restrictions are less severe), respondents continued scooting at pre-COVID levels & plan to use them more in the future
đŸ’Ș Strong support for slow streets (80% of respondents want to keep them!)
