I keep seeing him get faded, so here’s a statistical case for Leonard Fournette in 2020.

Thread (obviously)
First off, some background. Leonard Fournette was the 4th overall pick in 2017. Since then, the Jags have seen him do nothing but perform (on the field)

17.3 PPG 9th in 19
15 PPG 12th in 18
17.7 PPG 7th in 17

He’s been a stable RB1 his whole career when on the field.
In 2019, he was no different. Fournette was a top-10 RB in PPR scoring, but for all his touches, he had only 3 total TDs.

This was tied for 35th among RBs in 2019 and the lowest of Fournette's career. I thought this was low, so I did some research with pro football reference.
He’s one of just 2 RBs since 2010 with 250+ carries, 50+ receptions, and 5 or fewer total TDs. The other was 2011 Chris Johnson.

Fournette didn’t score from outside the 5 in 2019.
Not only that, he’s one of only 2 RBs since 2010 with 250+ carries and 3 or fewer TDs, joining Frank Gore’s 2017 Colts campaign.

But Leonard Fournette’s TD number was even more rare than that.
In 2019, his 76 receptions without a TD was the highest number without any TDs in 2019.

He also was the only player to accomplish this dubious feat in the 2010s.
You have to go back to 1986 Roger Craig to find the last time any player with 75+ receptions didn’t find the end zone.

2019 Fournette was just the 3rd player since the merger.
With no real competition for rushes in 2020, and Chris Thompson as his only competition for receiving work out of the backfield, Leonard Fournette has a great chance to see similar volume as he did last season.
Given his volume, Foournette has a great chance to get back into the end zone and score more than 3 times in 2020.

He statistically has to.

And even if he doesn’t, he was the RB9 without them.
