In The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren has Vader’s helmet, Rey gets Anakin’s lightsaber.
In The Rise of Skywalker, Kylo hears Vader’s voice, Rey hears Anakin’s voice.
Both of them are the Chosen One’s heir, both in a different way.
That’s what the sequels are about : Anakin’s Legacy.
What’s interesting is that it doesn’t stop there.
In TFA, Rey meets Luke Skywalker, the man who saved Anakin Skywalker, for guidance.
In TROS, Kylo Ren meets Palpatine, the man who doomed Anakin Skywalker, to take his power.

Both of them represents Anakin’s choices.
The TROS novel gives us even more of these details.
Kylo, a Skywalker, rejects his family as he doesn’t consider Anakin his grandfather.
Rey, a Palpatine, rejects her heritage and chooses to become a Skywalker.

Again, Kylo is Vader’s heir, Rey is Anakin’s heir.
Throughout the trilogy, Rey and Kylo are fighting over the fate of the Force and which part of the Legacy should triumph.
Kylo Ren wants power. He wants darkness to reign.
Rey wants to free the Galaxy from it’s oppressor. She wants peace, light, happiness and Balance.
What’s interesting is that their opposition is their greatest strength as they are a Dyad, “twins in the Force”.
Together, they are the combination of all Anakin’s qualities, flaws, weaknesses and strength. Both ready to bring Balance and to finish what their grandfather started.
With Rey representing the light, Kylo the darkness and Anakin being the Chosen One, there is an obvious Gods of Mortis imagery.
Anakin is the spiritual father of both Rey, the daughter, and Kylo, the son, twins in the Force, constantly fighting over the fate of the Galaxy.
To conclude, credits to JJ Abrams for creating such an amazing story about Anakin’s heir. Anakin’s Legacy still lives on through Rey and perfectly concludes the Saga.
