Bubba Wallace did not find the noose, and he did not report it. A crew member found it; it was the only garage pull tied into a noose at the track. NASCAR officials were also alarmed and reported it to the FBI. Bubba Wallace did nothing wrong. To call him #BubbaSmollett is wrong.
Secondly, if your reaction to a hate crime not being committed it to be racist and hateful, evaluate who you are and your own character. Is that really who you want to be?
Today #IStandWithBubba, because guess what guys, people have been racist toward him his whole career. He has taken a stand and has done so bravely. To call him #BubbaSmollett says a whole lot more about the content of your character than his.
It takes nothing to be silent. It takes very little to be kind. Ask yourself — does what I’m saying do anything to help? Is it cruel? Would I say this to his face?
I hope he’s surrounded by supportive people and not reading the hateful drivel many of you are tweeting. That’s the last I’ll say about this today.
