What’s missing from this analysis is that a significant proportion of trans people identify as non-binary and don’t want any medical intervention, but the GC figures class all amab people as “trans women”.
Also the main reasons why trans women don’t have surgery are waiting lists and expense.
There are actual studies of how many actual trans women would get surgery if it were easily available. The numbers are 90% in the UK and 88% in the USA.
Of course one of the planks of Truss’s proposed “reforms” is choking off access to medical treatment for trans people who want it. So who exactly is making women’s spaces unsafe?
