For millennia, men were men and women were women, and everyone knew the difference and didn't make fools of themselves pretending that sex was interchangeable.
The sooner the pretence ends, the better.
This is where the madness leads.
Describing one's sex as male or female is accurate. Gender is for students of foreign languages; in other contexts it's confusing. Using gender as a synonym for sex makes no sense, despite being in the vernacular. Adopting one is up to you, but your sex remains the same.
"Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
--- George Carlin
What's feminism?
Feminists object to being treated as second-class citizens, disposable commodities for male sexual gratification and generally worthless, not just here, but everywhere that our sex renders us vulnerable. https://news.trust.org/item/20180612134519-cxz54/
Some of my critics have advised me to learn some anthropology. I have. Cultural anthropology covers male and female roles in society, but not the very recent transgenderism craze, while physical or biological anthropology deals with evolution. Neither negates the science of sex.
Erich Fromm was strongly influenced by the events of World War Two, which were the result of a form of insanity that's still prevalent among world leaders.
Other ideas based on popular mythology are dangerous in a different way today.
Batty!
Whenever the difference between sex and gender is pointed out, we often get an illogical response about trans rights, without an explanation of what they are or how they differ from everyone else's. Instead we get demands; insistent and peremptory requests, made as of right.
Apart from threats and insults, ad hominem and straw man arguments are usual, as in this example in response to a short thread about how the deaths of millions of women receives little attention compared with the hundreds of trans murders, and how trans people are relatively safe
You'd think that trans people might be reassured by this. Instead we have relentless claims that they are made to feel "unsafe" by statements of fact or criticism of their demands. They seem to think that words are more dangerous than deeds, hence the attempts to stifle debate.
Fortunately, it's having the opposite effect. I'm hoping that in 2021 the irrational and dangerous claims made about transgender people, who aren't homogeneous but differ in motive and comorbidity, will be exposed for what they are, and sanity may prevail.
Happy New Year!
In 'Through the Looking Glass' Alice has a conversation with Humpty Dumpty about the meaning of words.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean–neither more nor less."
Hence the term humptydumptyism.
Which brings me to the nonsense claim, oft repeated, that trans women are women. Strangely, we don't hear the similar claim about trans men as often.
It's pure humptydumptyism. If trans women really were women, it wouldn't be necessary to use the prefix, but they're not.
More accurately, men who pretend they're women and women who pretend to be men are faux women and men. The pretence is more successful for some than others when the pretender, like an octopus or chameleon, creates a realistic disguise, but they're in a minority.
To go with all this linguistic tomfoolery there are equally false theories about how it might be possible to change your sex, or gender, with talk of wrong brains or bodies, depending on which came first, like chicken or egg.
Most intelligent people recognise that this is all nonsense, but some go along with the pretence, even going as far as enforcing the use of a terminology based on humptydumptyism by exploiting their authority as employers, law-enforcers, etc., which means exceeding their powers.
So, let this be a lesson to you. Beware the humpty dumpties who tell you stories that aren't true. They'll tie you in linguistic knots until you begin to wonder which way is up and will have you in Neverland with them, and you know what happens to eggs. https://www.thoughtco.com/humpty-dumpty-philosopher-of-language-2670315
Have any of these organisations asked themselves the following...

How d'you explain the recent proliferation of claims about transgenderism, transgender children and gender identities?

Is there any sound peer-reviewed evidence of a physical cause? https://www.stonewall.org.uk/diversity-champions-members
