Dan Fagan manages to drop his trifecta of favorite insults in his COVID column this morning: Liberal, Big Money Trial Lawyers, against tort reform.
Fagan also repeats the falsehood that somehow the Governor personally raised billions in taxes in term one, not giving the context that the Republicans in the Legislature ALSO approved the temporary tax increase.
And Fagan repeats the lie that the tort reform bill the Governor vetoes would have lowered auto insurance rates. There was absolutely no proof that it would, nor did any insurance company commit that it would.
And of course Fagan totally neglects to mention that the Governor actively encouraged people to wear masks, practice social distancing and wash their hands if they did go to a demonstration.

He also told them to consider staying at home if they were at high risk for illness.
Of course Dan Fagan mocks the Governor’s language on “alarming” case growth, just a day after Louisiana had its largest single day increase of new cases in quite some time. For people like Dan Fagan, the coronavirus is another chance to score cheap political points.
Just last year, Louisiana hit a 12 year low on unemployment, record high GDP and record high personal income. Dan Fagan wants to beat the Governor up for allegedly not caring about the private sector while ignoring that Louisiana has had some great economic successes before this.
And it’s good to know that Fagan believes doctors when it suits his purposes, claiming COVID is weakened. We have epidemiologists advising the Governor — they unanimously recommended staying in Phase 2.
Also this “moving the goal posts” thing people say in regards to Flattening the Curve is just bizarre. You don’t Flatten the Curve one time. You have to keep it flat.
Anyway, happy Wednesday.
