How could we protect worker health and safety during the pandemic? @WorkerPowerLaw is out with a new report: https://www.cleanslateworkerpower.org/covid-report
One thing I love about this report is how much workplace democracy it calls for. Workers should elect a) safety stewards at every workplace; and b) members of workplace health & safety committees
But the report ALSO calls for sectoral commissions to make sure individual workplaces don't get left behind; and community involvement -- because, as we have all seen, worker health and community health are two sides of the same coin
These mechanisms will help workers set safety standards for workplaces & industries that go beyond what OSHA and state agencies currently require.
If you've been watching OSHA's (non-)response to the pandemic, you already know why this matters. https://twitter.com/TerriGerstein/status/1275777662397616133?s=20

Worker safety is threatened when workers are intimidated by their bosses. So the report also calls for just cause protections from termination, and the creation of online organizing space that is free from employer surveillance
One last thing - a bunch of these ideas could be enacted at the state level. E.g., PA has already recommended "pandemic safety officers" in every workplace, similar to the report's recommendation on safety stewards
