Every morning the past few weeks, I wake up to tell @NYGovCuomo to change course & fund @CUNY--to demand he see how amazing our classes are, how smart & determined our students are, how they embody the ideals this country says it believes in (education,hard work, social mobility)
Every morning I also know that @NYGovCuomo-like his dad-has cut CUNY every year he's been in office & the cuts reputedly coming will be worse. Cuomo is such a bully that @CUNY leadership fear denouncing him publicly, including the president of my own institution @BCPresAnderson.
Every morning I also know the @nytimes can't be bothered to cover this. 275,000 students (80% students of color) go to CUNY but the last time the @nytimes ran a substantive piece on the underfunding of @CUNY was when Michelle Obama gave the 2016 City College commencement speech.
