1. Writing doesn't have to be a full-time job to be useful and enriching. Writing for pleasure is an end in itself. #TenThingsAboutWriting

3. There is no such thing as a "real writer" because there's no such thing as a fake one. If you write, you're a writer. #TenThingsAboutWriting

4. Writing is a learning curve. As with any other skill, you get better and better with practice. #TenThingsAboutWriting

5. Writing is like exercise. It's better to write a little every day than to do a six-hour stint every month. #TenThingsAboutWriting

6. Writing can be a very personal, satisfying way of exploring and expressing your feelings. There should be no pressure on you to share your work unless you really want to. #TenThingsAboutWriting

7. Fan fiction is a great way of having fun, honing your writing skills and engaging with your chosen fandom. Don't let anyone make you feel that it isn't worthwhile or proper writing. #TenThingsAboutWriting

8. Don't write because you think it will make you rich or famous, or to impress other people. Write because you want to. #TenThingsAboutWriting

9. If you don't want to write, then don't write. You may have a different way of expressing your creativity. Don't feel that you have to prove anything to anyone by doing something that doesn't appeal to you. #TenThingsAboutWriting

10. If you do want to write, just do it. Don't wait for more time, or a brilliant new idea, or a sudden burst of confidence. Give yourself permission to start, and just enjoy it. See where it leads. #TenThingsAboutWriting
