Most striking fact for me:
For travel to work journeys of less than 2km (which takes around 20 minutes to walk), 42% were by foot, but 45% were by car.
For journeys between 2-5km (a 45 mins walk or 15 min cycle), 67% are by car and only 5% by bike.
While the above stat is for pre- #Covid19UK, we can expect some shorter journeys by public transport will now switch to walking and cycling, but will drivers continue driving?
➡️Continued working from home where possible will be important to manage demand
But only a small proportion of journeys are for commuting or business, with many more for shopping or leisure, providing a further opportunity for modal shift. Here is one 📊 I did recently
