Tonight, I went out to cover tonight's protests against the arrest of Yeshua Musa (a story we are also following up on).

I did not tweet about it because protestors repeatedly told media to leave, and told people not to take pictures with people's faces.
Plenty of protestors themselves were streaming live to social media as well as posting pictures and video.

Protesters at the intersection of Wilson and Hamilton were atop a Schmidt's tow truck. I was called out by protestors who were speaking for recording using my Zoom.
I explained I was with @wortnews, the news division of a nonprofit community radio station. Not here to do gotchya news or flashy shallow TV stories. The organizers seemed okay with it, likely recognizing my face from past protests.
I eventually left after being harassed again by a white protestor — wearing a WORT sweatshirt, which he promptly took off and threw in my face.
I went back after a little bit and joined the crowd as they were dragging the statue of Forward down State Street and up Fairchild.

Along the way, those in the crowd with phones up were harassed, surrounded, and told to leave by organizers.
Around midnight, protestors stopped at the intersection of West Main Street and S Fairchild Street. A man, later identified as Democratic State Senator Tim Carpenter, stood on the sidewalk with his phone aimed at the crowd.
A group of six to eight protestors rushed Carpenter and tackled him to the ground, punching and kicking his stomach and face. I was ten feet away and quickly got closer.

Protestors then surrounded Carpenter as he moved near his car.
We later joined protestors as they eventually outlasted the Madison Police around 2, 3 am near the State Capitol. More audio to come from that back-and-forth.
