Business leaders are smart & they want to make a profit. Hard to do that in the current 'half-way' house of not dealing with core public health problem & partially opening. Several U.S. states had exactly this debate 6 weeks back.
CMO himself said that virus will be circulating for the next year. People will change their behaviour to keep themselves safe. As said in the U.S., it's like welcoming people to Jurassic Park with dinosaurs on the loose.
Isn't optimal solution for economy/public health to push mass testing/tracing? N. Ireland & Scotland are not far off elimination. Why not England too? All 4 nations need to work together. Otherwise risk second wave.
With real commitment & leadership by this gov't, I think achievable in the Summer. Will require creativity for int'l links including testing at airports, bubbles for low incidence countries & quarantine for those from high incidence ones. Loads of examples from other places.
