On this day 4 years ago, I woke at 6am after 4 fretful hours sleep, heard the (not unexpected) news, swore, cried, swore some more, and decided to join the first political party that would speak up against this travesty of good sense.
The last 5 years of politics in this country have shown what happens when democracy goes bad. They’ve shown what’s achievable if you lie big and gaslight an entire nation.

Somewhere out there, truth and dignity still lurk. We need to find them both, and hold on to them tightly.
Please remember and realise that we are being lied to daily on a massive scale. And as with most really risky behaviour (it cannot last for ever, and they *will* be found out and called to account), there is always a reason driving it forwards.
Follow the money, as they say. See whom all this benefits. Because it does not benefit the vast majority of us- in fact it harms most of us, and *removes* rights from us.
We deserve better than this. We are not bad people, but we have somehow elected bad people to rule over us. And they are representing us very poorly on the international stage. Is this really what you want other countries to think we are?

We have the tools to stop it. #elections
We cannot elect people just because they are colourful. We have to be more grown-up about this. We have to inform ourselves politically before voting, because as a wise person once said- you may not be interested in politics, but it sure as hell is interested in you.
One of the main problems with our politics is our electoral system. First past the post encourages block-voting and unthinking tribalism in Westminster. You cannot really achieve anything in Westminster without a majority. Unity is strength- it can be good, or it can be very bad.
I went into politics prompted by Brexit, but because I could see that our democracy is broken. While there is still breath in my body I will continue to campaign for a voting system that is not an 18th century sublimated battle, our representatives sitting 2 sword lengths apart.
Unless you are deeply wedded to feudalism, I urge you to join the fray and fight for fairer voting also.
